Streamlining Highway Safety Submissions

Summary#

This bill, called the Streamlining State Highway Safety Submissions Act, tells the Secretary of Transportation to change rules for highway safety programs under section 402 of title 23, United States Code. Within 180 days after the bill becomes law, the Secretary must revise those rules so that a triennial management review done by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) can count as the information or paperwork a state must submit for its triennial highway safety plan under subsection (k) during the same three-year review period.

  • Federal agencies: The Secretary of Transportation must revise applicable program requirements within 180 days of enactment.
