Child Care Tax Benefit Outreach and Assistance Act

Summary#

The bill would create a Business Child Care Liaison within the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The liaison would help businesses understand employer-provided child care benefits, share information with employers and other groups, and identify ways to address barriers. The liaison would also prepare a fact sheet for tax preparers, help create a child care benefits resource page on SAM.gov, recommend changes to Congress, and submit yearly public reports.

What it means for you#

Employers and employees could access information about workplace child care options and related tax benefits. The bill does not change the tax benefits themselves.

Expenses#

The liaison would be paid at the level V Executive Schedule rate. The IRS Commissioner could also create an office with support staff. No publicly available information gives an estimate of total costs.
